Price unknown for 500 mL capped bottle purchased at brewery taproom – was part of large tab. Reviewed 10/4/19.
Stamped on bottom of label “Patience Series 2019”, no other date. In reefer at taproom, stored and served at reefer temperature. Final temperature unknown.
Appearance – 4.
First pour – Light yellow, slight haze.
Body – Yellow, murky.
Head – Large (Maximum 7.5 cm, aggressive center pour), off-white, dense and meringue-like, average retention, diminishing to a three to seven mm crown and a thick complete cap. Lots of three-dimensional lacing remains as the head retracts.
Lacing – Excellent. Moderately wide bands of tiny to small bubbles displaying stalactites and stalagmites, connected by columns, like looking at a cross-section of Carlsbad Caverns.
Aroma – 4 – Yeast, phenols, some coriander and weak other spices.
Flavor – 4.25 – First taste is spice mixture with the coriander being very weak. The phenols are prominent, but the yeast is weaker than the nose suggests. No alcohol (7% ABV) flavor or aroma, no dimethylsulfide, no diacetyl. Some gastric warming occurs.
Palate – 3 – Medium, watery, lively carbonation just short of fizzy.
Final impression and summation: 4. This is less coriander-centered than most saisons but still spicy. The yeastiness is less pronounced. A different taste profile than most saisons and, IMHO, better.
