Lots of Irish Red character but maybe a bit too light in the delivery. I get a bit of fudgey chocolate, roasted pecan, kilned grains, barley, biscuit and nuttiness. Drinks very smooth and dry.

A: Pours a dark, brownish amber with a thin, creamy off-white mousse.
S: Mild aromas of toast, caramel, roasted nuts, nougat, moist earth, chocolate, leather, and tobacco are present on the nose.
T: Notes of tobacco, moist earth, black walnut, roasted chestnut, toasted almonds, leather, caramel, chocolate, cream, and nougat mingle with notes of minerals, lemon, black pepper, and herbs. The finish is smooth and rich, with notes of tobacco, leather, earth, caramel, cream, chocolate, and lemon dominating.
M: Medium-bodied, but on the heavier side of medium. Smooth and silky in the mouth with carbonation that is delicate, yet firm. This ale is very easy to drink and very true to form.
O: So, the Irish ales are still not my favorite styles, but I have to say that this one is most definitely good. I really like the rich malt and delicate hop flavors this ale presents, and I love the full, rich, silky texture in the mouth. It is obvious to me that this Irish red is slightly stronger than many other examples of the style produced in the U.S., and it is, indeed, heavier than many examples of the style as well, but it remains very authentic. This is both a rock solid spring brew and a better-than-average example of a traditional style.
