Brewed in conjunction with acclaimed homebrewer, Jim Miller, his baltic porter stands tall among competition and wins the right to have his traditional yet strong porter brewed by the talented team at Blue Stallion.
Natasha Fatale could easily be mistaken for stout because of its ominously dark, near black abyss. A frothy tan head builds on the beer and delivers promises of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, roasted walnut, burnt sweetness and hints of dark, vinous-type fruit to the nose. As its rich molasses sweetness greets the tongue with hints of burnt cream for first impressions of roasted marshmallow.
And as the sweetness slowly relaxes, the beer's earthy and complex fruits begin to announce. Dark coffee, bittersweet chocolate and toasted sweetness prance on the middle palate while roasting walnut, burnt toast and light campfire challenge the tastebuds from the malty side. Broad bitterness tucks nicely behind the coffee and nuttiness while gentle grape, black cherry and blackcurrant offer a light estery twang to round out the flavor profile.
Finishing full, lush and robust, the porter trails with a drying malt balance, a peppery simmering warmth and a kiss of red wine or brandy to close. A long bittersweet aftertaste plays like cacao and kaluha with modest hints of leather and oak that echo gently afterwards.
