What the fudge is going on in the brewhouse? While the milk stout has the tendency to promote a cocoa-like impression on the palate, the Blue Stallion brewers fudge around with the time honored recipe by adding copious amounts of cocoa nibs for a taste that's fudgin' delicious.
Sweet Fudgin' comes with a creamy dark density that's somewhere between dark roast coffee and cocoa. Light on froth, the beer soon captures the senses with a caramel, toffee, chocolate and coffee array of fragrances. Its taste is decadently sweet with the same slather of caramel, toffee, cream and chocolate on the early palate playing a role of roasted marshmallow and s'mores.
Its rich taste relaxes slowly on the middle palate and eventually lets the coffee-like roast ring in the classic roasted barley taste of stout. Buffered with the creamy vanilla-like impression of lactose, the roast balances with sweetness that pulls from the caramel and toffee maltiness. Light bitterness plays off like a cocoa or coffee-like broad balance on the tongue while the chocolate taste lingers deep and lavish on the late palate.
Full bodied but shying from imperial status, the beer retains a drinkable attitude with a creamy but effortless texture. Silky on the finish, the kahlua-like alcohol simmers warmly on the palate with a long, sweet and yes, fudge filled aftertaste.
