Usually very well adept at flexing their German beer muscles, Blue Stallion recruits the help of local homebrew club members in building a slightly more historic Czech-styled Pilsner.
Pouring a slightly hazy, bright gold color, Cold Czech Pilsner builds a frothy, medium longevity froth. Fresh baking breads fill the nose along with a brisk floral hop scent and a rolling character of light fruit, herb and grasses. Gentle sweetness make first flavor impressions with light bread and honeysuckle.
Lightly musty from its raw grain character, the lager begins to trade its floral hops for a spicier offset to the malt sweetness. Trending herbal with lemongrass, lemon pepper, tea-like and with hints of grassy parsley, the beer soon shares a fruitiness of apple and lemon with a slight sulfury component to assist with a snappy late palate and an overall grassy bitterness.
Medium bodied for lager, the beer finishes crisp, flavorful and quite refreshing despite an under current of grain must, sulfur a piquant hop grassiness. As it trails into a medium length aftertaste, its continues to share a grassy, grainy, peppery, floral bite... but in a good way.
