16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG Oliver Square - I'm a tad surprised that this wasn't already listed on here.
This beer appears a clear, medium golden yellow colour, with one skinny finger of wispy and mildly creamy off-white head, which leaves some approaching land-ho lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.
It smells of gritty and grainy pale and wheat malt, estery Belgian yeast, some indistinct domestic citrus bitters, muddled peppercorn spice, and more leafy, earthy, and musty floral green hops. The taste is tart orange and apple pith, a sort of sour yeastiness, bready and grainy pale malt, a lesser wheaten graininess, mild farmhouse funky notes, subtle earthy coriander and black pepper spice, and more leafy, weedy, and grainy verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly average in its workaday frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and more or less smooth, with the yeast and hops only exacting a minor tithe here. It finishes off-dry, the funk, fruit, and mixed base malt holding fast.
Overall, this is a tad more funky than your typical Wallonian ales (I blame the Americans), but on the flip side, the New World hops do well to act as a capable counter-agent, as such. Good stuff, once again, Four Winds!
