This bright Belgian ale is crafted to provide the right balance of fruity and citrus aromatics, while combining a distinct Belgian yeast character in subtle whispers. Earl Grey tea is then cold-steeped in the beer to provide intense orange and tangerine notes. The result is a highly sessionable, refreshing beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass. It was a straw yellow in color and the thick white head quickly dissipated. There’s plenty of almost champagne-like carbonation that replaces much of the hop bite, which I suspect was toned down by the use of Earl Grey tea in this brew. There’s floral notes, too. Drinks pretty easy though it lacks the Belgian funk. Probably a good one for a hot day.

It seems I am the first to rate this re-release. (Canned 2/18/20.)
Abbey & Earl (a clever same combining monastic brewing and the tea) is a relatively good venture into the Belgian tradition by a young brewery whose money-makers usually involve hops. So I am glad to see them release this again in a 16 ounce can.
First, Abbey & Earl is refreshing. Second, it paired well with summer fare; important for a BPA. While it Looks totally average and gets only slightly better (and more fruity in the Smells), the Tastes are subtle and quenching and let the food do the work. Maybe the tannic in the tea helped clean the palate.
I like BuckleDown and am glad I could try this again. A summer table seasonal, for sure.

Taste: Smooth, herbal, floral, tea, with slight bite at finish. Fresh herbal tea nose.
straw color, mostly clear, with a large white foam head and delicate lace. Medium body. More tea like than Belgian Dubbel, but tasty.
