On-tap at The Engine Room, Mystic, CT
Pours a bright golden copper with a massive, foamy white head: tons of sticky lacing and spectacular retention.
Aroma of crisp hay and barnyard funk to go with an earthy citrus bouquet, dank floral notes, and a finish of light vanilla-soaked oak; bright and very clean on the nose.
Taste is of earthy, tart mango peel and hay, fading into bread crusts and malty bitterness; restrained but present, and a balance well-done.
Mouthfeel is crisp and smooth on the palate; gritty grain leave a nice impression, and adds to the overall heft of the beer in a positive way.
A cool introduction to a new-to-me style; everything about this beer was nicely done with the aroma especially having a particularly unique flair to it. It'd be a simple pleasure to drink again, as well as others like it.
