Look: It pours cloudy brown with a tan head. Head retention is low.
Smell: It has a strong port vinous aroma with caramel and nuts. There is a slight spicy note with some toffee.
Taste: It has a mixture of caramel, toffee, and strong port flavors intermixed with alcohol. There is a bit of dried cherry and nuts.
Feel: It has a full body with hot alcohol.
Overall, I love barleywines and I love crank arm, but the port wine is overpowering and the barleywine combo just doesn't work for me. The alcohol warmth could have been dialed down a bit as well.
