poured 22oz bottle into a chalice.
A - Dark cola brown with 1 finger off white head. Fades into a thin ring and leaves behind traces of lacing.
S - Aromas of a mint chocolate truffle. It smells very nice and the mint chocolate is well done.
T - A bit lacking with a basic stout flavor. The mint is stronger than the chocolate and the beer is a tad bitter. It could have been a bit sweeter with more roast and chocolate.
M - It's light to medium, but not really creamy as one would expect. Carbonation is decent for a stout.
O - The upside to Mobcraft is all the different flavors. The downside is that they really can't focus on mastering a style and make it excellent. This beer could have been much better with an excellent base stout to begin with before adding the additional flavors. It was enjoyable for $7.

On tap at Side Door. Drinks more like a regular-strength porter: a smallish, rather thin body, and a metallic brightness that hurts this brew. I also like a lot more sweetness in a double stout. The mint is done well, not in your face or gimmicky.
A quality beer, to be sure, and nearly misses the realm of the exceptional. It's just not big enough for the style.
