On trap at brewer; pours a chocolaty brown with a thin tan head that soon dissipates, minimal lacing. Scent of brown sugar, caramel. Taste intense of caramelized malt, brown sugar, slight alcohol bite. Average mouthfeel. Overall, I found the taste overpowering.

Pours a brown color with a foamy tan head that disappears quickly. Aromas of brown sugar, vanilla and rum. Tastes of sweet caramel with a rum finish that doesn't overpower the beer.

A bomber dated March 28, 2016 that I purchased at the brewery a few months ago poured in a 13oz. snifter.
Look- Pours a cola brown with a reddish hue leaving a few centimeters of light tan foam that settles to a ring around the glass.
Smell- Musty oak, peat, smoke, brown sugar and rum.
Taste- Caramel/toffee sweetness with oak, tobacco, char and rum.
Feel- Very light for the style with a slick feel.
Overall- A solid beer all around. The rum barrel really shines without overpowering the flavors of the base beer. This could easily be in the conversation with the top tier barrel aged scotch ales.
