Got this one at the Duvel guy down the road.
From a bottle into a snifter
Farmhouse IPA with saison yeast and American hop varieties
APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, foamy white head with great retention. Hazy amber orange with no real carbonation evident. Head fades to a full cap and sticks to the sides of the glass. A half wisp remains and leaves some decent lacing as the glass empties. Good looking stuff.
SMELL: Hay, barnyard aromas, wet grass with lemon and citrus hops on the nose. Pretty forthcoming.
TASTE: Some hay and grassy hop flavors up front. Light caramel as well. Milder but lingering finish of grass and hay flavors with citrus and lemony hops. Okay but could be bolder after the swallow.
PALATE: Slightly thinner body with medium levels of carbonation. A little watery on the palate, goes down fine and finishes slightly dry.
OVERALL: This is an alright summer brew. Admittedly saison aren't really my thing, but this hoppy farmhouse ale is rather refreshing. Good yeasty qualities and some nice citrus hops work well together. I'd like a creamier palate for sure, but still an enjoyable drink.
