I was fortunate to find the Legenda Brewery in Budapest on a side-street and got to try this IPA. Seems to serve exclusively their own beers on draft or in bottles.
Not a lot of IPAs in this area of Europe -- they're heavy on the pilseners. This came as a pleasant surprise. It arrives on draft a little darker than expected, a little closer to an amber. The deep golden color is opaque, not quite translucent, reminds me of an east coast IPA (unfiltered). Good looking beer.
Aroma is hops and citrus. As expected. Taste is hops, bitter, rind, and pepper. It feels a bit boozy too even though it's in the mid 6s%. As the finish approaches I get pine and a sticky finish.
Not at all overwhelming, not too bitter, not too boring, all the flavors in concert, well balanced. Nothing to complain about. To find a good non-aggressive IPA in Hungary was great. This place, on Kiraly Utca, is intimate, friendly, comfortable. Note the hours seem only to be Mon-Fri until 10 so don't leave this until the end of your night.
Get a local brew. The bartender was quite friendly, not very crowded the week before Easter (when everyone's off).

On-draught into stemware at Legenda in Summer 2014. Reviewed from notes.
HEAD: 2 fingers in height. Pale khaki in colour. Nice creaminess and thickness. Average consistency. No lacing sticks to the sides of the glass as the head recedes. ~3 minute retention.
BODY: Dark nontransparent translucent amber. No yeast/lees/sediment is visible within. Average vibrance. Appears adequately carbonated.
Not a unique or special appearance. Generally appealing.
AROMA: Pale malts. Floral hop aromatics. Quite light in terms of strength.
TASTE: Pale malts, amber malts, floral hops, light nectary and bitter hop flavours. Pretty simply built.
Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.
There's really no complexity or subtlety here to speak of. Not a nuanced or intricate brew, but decently balanced and cohesive enough.
TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, fairly thick, unrefreshing.
Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, or astringent.
OVERALL: Average drinkability. I like it generally, but it's not a good expression of the intended style (IPA). Very middle-of-the-road and not fully realized.
