I got a can of White River Brewing's Spring Fed Ale. This is my first time having a beer from this brewery, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a 12oz can into a can glass.

A- The can looks nice, it's got a nice design and it's a little eye catching. It poured a fairly clear golden color that took on more of a pale yellow color when held to the light with a half a fingers worth of bubbly off white head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a nice looking beer, but I wish it had more head and better retention.

S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with a big fruity aroma being that first to show up and it smells just like apple juice. Up next is a little bit of a plastic like aroma with a noticeable wet cardboard like aromas with some more sweet and fruity aromas showing up towards the end. This beer doesn't have a great aroma, it's got a few off aromas.

T- The taste seems to be fairly similar to t he aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the fruity yeast being the first to show up and it imparts that same apple juice aspect that it did in the aroma, but it's just a little lighter this time. Up next comes a slight bit of plastic aspect that I got in the aroma with no wet cardboard showing up. Towards the end there's some sweet malts with a little bit of grainy and watery flavor. This isn't a great tasting beer, it's got a little bit of those aspects that I got in the aroma.

M- Not too smooth, a little crisp, not to clean, on the thick side of being light bodied with a slightly lower amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is ok, but I wish it was smoother wit more carbonation.

Overall I thought this wasn't a good beer and it's not a good example of the style, it's a little blonde ale like, but from the most part it's the off aspects that seem to dominate this beer and they are the flavors that stick out more than the Blonde Ale flavors. This beer didn't have good drinkability, half a glass is more than enough for me, almost a drain pour. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance, it's a nice looking beer. What I like the least about this beer is the aroma and taste, they weren't great and they had problems. I wouldn't buy this beer again unless I knew it was really fresh and I wouldn't recommend. All in all I think there was something off with this one and it didn't have a lot of those Blonde Ale aspects that I was looking for. It didn't make for a good first impression for this brewery and it's below average for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one needs some major work.

Pours a slightly gold with 2 fingers of ivory colored head. Slightly above average head retention & lacing

S: Bready & grassy

T: Follows the nose, pear and a little lemon up front. Grassyness, lemon and little crackery dryness as this warms. Finishes with pear, a little grainy sweetness and some grassyness

MF: Medium body, fairly assertive carbonation, well balanced

Easy to drink, but just a middle of the pack golden ale
