Cloudy bright gold. Thin streaks for lace.
Good blend of pale malt and flowery hop to the nose.
Far more bitter than the smell suggests. Peppery. Lower carbonation, unusual for a Japanese beer. Moderate body. The malt is very brief up front. Surprisingly short aftertaste.

On tap at the brewery restaurant on Miyajima Island.
Clear deep amber colored body topped by an excellent off-white head with exceptional retention.
Feel: smooth, medium body with lively carbonation.
This is an exceptionally fine pale ale featuring citrus hops and loads of caramel malts. Excellent balance. Moderately hoppy and bitter for style.

350ml Can from Miyajima Island, Japan (¥500):
Very pleasant stuff from Miyajima this time round & although their Weizen still seemed like the better beer, this one was a highly drinkable beer that kept a good balance between the caramel sweetness & the floral touches that featured later on. It was very much an English style beer with plenty of malt sweetness alongside an earthy bitterness but it was easy going & had a nice balance to it as well; definitely a beer worth looking out for if you're in Japan.
