White Hops is a nod to Georgia’s forgotten brewing history, taking its name from a mysterious Atlanta malt beverage sold in 1898, under the nose of regulators. Even though the now-defunct Atlanta City Brewery was a mainstay of the city’s business community, no one knows what the original “White Hops” tasted like. So we used our imaginations and a Belgian yeast strain to craft our best approximation—a full-flavored white IPA, brewed with wheat malt, Citra hops, spices and grapefruit peel. Aromatic and intense, with a unique malt backbone, this ale is for hop enthusiasts looking to surpass the ordinary.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a murky pale yellow with a medium sized white head. The aroma is citrus and hops. the taste is fruit centered with some hops in the background.

pours a murky, unfiltered golden straw with a huge white head that poofs. nose; yeast, coriander, sugar, & hops. taste; belgian yeast, thick wheaty malt, grassy hops, & candied fruit - orange, lemon, & grapefruit. medium carbonation & slightly heavy mouthfeel. white ipa? very much a lightly syrupy-sweet belgian blonde. nice sweet taste profile, but not complex enough to keep the yeast & candy 1-2 combo from becoming a touch cloying. this would be a definite next-level beer for blue moon fans. decent.

Had White Hops, part of Three Taverns' New Monastic Series, poured from 12-oz. bottle into goblet.
This beer is surprisingly complex, but a bit rough around the edges.

I first had this at Cypress Street Pint and Plate before the FSU@Tech game. I was impressed with its taste. While it wasn't top of the line, it was smooth.

L: Hazy, soft orange that definitely looks more like a wheat. The head poured very light, but thickened quickly and has pretty good retention.
S: Again, more like a wheat with sharp/tart orange and yeast.
T: Tastes like an unsweetened or flat Blue Moon with a splash of hops at the end.
F: Oily and light bodied with too much carbonation.
O: Not good. Maybe it just isn't my type of beer. It felt like there might be potential, but everything seems out of balance. I don't see a date on the bottle, but it definitely doesn't taste fresh to me.
