With the coffee infustion, this IPA essentially tastes like a brown ale. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but brown ales just tend to rub me the wrong way (I know, I know: that's a personal problem). Still is a solid beer and another example of Three Taverns' innovative spirit.

12oz can acquired at the brewery release this past weekend. Served in a Three Taverns snifter.
Pours a bright but opaque orange with a half finger cap of white head. Retention amounts to a few patches, a narrow band and some nice crusty lacing where the head had rested.
Wonderful coffee notes greet the nose. That is joined by the smell of a little citrus and a strange but fitting dark cocoa presence.
The flavor is bold and pleasantly bitter. Coffee, citrus peel, cherry skins, faint cocoa and a hint of caramel. The "chocolate, cherry and citrus satisfaction" slogan printed on the can rings surprisingly accurate.
Medium body with a semi slick feel and modest fizzy carbonation. Coffee, peel, dark chocolate and a hint of cherry linger in the fairly bitter finish.
The blend of coffee beans that Octane put together for Three Taverns is arguably one of the most flavorful I've experienced in a coffee IPA. A Night on Octane's unique flavor combination takes the taste a bit further from IPA than I'd typically prefer but I really appreciate the complexity. Wouldn't mind seize this available more often.
