Look - Pours an oily jet black with some visible viscosity. A thin tan head lasts only moments before dissipating.
Smell - Bourbon, roasty malt reminiscent of chocolate, maple, coffee, and fleeting banana.
Taste - Bourbon and maple interplay first and is followed by the coffee and banana, smoke and barrel finish off the sip.
Feel - Oil slick with a medium-full body.
Overall - There is a lot happening in here flavor-wise. Everything is dialed up from the non-BA version, including the sweetness and abv. A well executed BA imperial stout with a balance of flavor that is no small feat with so many adjuncts at play.

absurd adjunct stout here, delicious but diabetic, maple, bacon, banana, coffee milk stout, aged in bourbon barrels for good measure. this is an exercise in excess, and it drinks like it, with some shiny slick coal black body, epic viscosity, and all of what it says it is in terms of aroma and flavor. smokey, sugar cured, greasy bacon is obvious to me, a cool element that makes this somewhat unique, oddly expert with the whiskey, a very cool combination there, my favorite of the many synergies this presents the drinker. the banana element is there too, kind of green and under ripe, better than mushy and brown i think, and nice with the vegetal coffee element as well as the roasted grain, which provides a nice earthy low end here. i think the oak and banana is a neat combination as well, vanilla with it is cool. the maple is robust but not overdone, and ends up as much of just a sugary element as it does a flavor element, i mean, i get the maple sure, but more in nose than taste, and with the lactose, its just too much sugar, i could do without the milk sugar probably, but i like the maple in here when it warms up, thats when its the most expressive. its huge in body, sticky almost going down, and boozy as can be. somehow nicely integrated and mellowed by the bourbon, for all the diverse flavors and boldness of this, its somehow unified and cohesive and good. a small glass is plenty, but this is a neat breakfast themed beer that is more than just a novelty. well done with some tricky components here. three taverns does it again!
