12 ounce can - $5.49 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
Appearance: Pours a near black body with nil head formation. Essentially, a flat, viscous-looking beverage.
Smell: Its Almond Joy components are well-represented and present: chocolate, coffee, some nuttiness from the almonds, toasted coconut and a nice overall creaminess. Additionally roasted, toasted notes from the malts and a modest smidgen of spicy alcohol.
Taste: Sweet, sugary with a big dark fruitiness (syrup-packed berry-like notes) at the opening. Again, you get the aforementioned additive flavors without any being particularly overpowering or grotesque. Sugary flavor of chocolate, coffee and light cream carry you through the smooth, under-carbonated finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body.
Overall: Okay! I ask of Pastry/Candy Bar Stouts the same thing I, very cordially, ask of Macro Lagers: Don't Be Gross. This wasn't gross. Though, like macro lagers, I doubt I'll ever need to revisit it anytime soon.
