I love the feel of this beer. It almost seems like the wet hops give a nice oily tone to things. It carries an unfiltered tone to it all, but it works quite well, in my opinion. More an American interpretation as opposed to a Belgian one. Done quite well. I like it.
Too bad it is a one-off and the keg is already kicked.

This is Roundabout's Still Summer Saison wet-hopped with Willamette.
Poured into a stemmed tulip: Light gold, transparent body under two fingers of creamy white head that drops to a thick coating & leaves a blanket of lacing.
Hops come through in the aroma with a peppery, leafy green kind of character almost like arugala. Underneath is some lemongrass, nectarine, pretty herbal character. The wet hops really contribute something different here than they would in a typically hop-forward style, & I like it.
Some nectarine & apricot up front, a little sharpness, but then tempered by a soft sweetness & a kind of tea-like dryness. Wondering if there's some rye, as there's a little bit of pretzel-like spiciness.
Mouthfeel is a little sharp up front, but quickly smoothed out & softened. Not as hyper-effervescent as a lot of saisons - that aggressive yeast can be overwhelming, which isn't the case here.
I'm usually not a fan of saisons, but two things that really elevate them for me are dry-hopping & rye, & this definitely has one, if not both of those. I'm a fan of this. Haven't had the regular base saison, but I'm impressed by what's offered here.
