Bottle label notes: "2015 Edition. BELGIAN-STYLE BARREL-AGED IMPERIAL SAISON".
Faintly hazy, honey-colored body; one-finger thick, lasting, creamy head; strings and flecks of lacing down the glass. Ripe fruit; peach and apricot; watermelon; raspberries; yeasty mustiness. Fruity with a biscuit-like malt base; earthy yeast presence; honey; bitter with an evident boozy edge. Medium-heavy in body; alcohol heat; some phenolic hints; chewy; sweet start yet finishes mostly dry.
An impressive imperial saison that does a very good job of blending the strong ABV with the fine tasting complexity of the yeast, grains, and whatever type of barrel aging (I couldn't find out what type of barrels were used) and any other ingredients they threw into the mix. So me imperial and barrel-aging brews seem to let the high ABV and barrel flavors overtake the base beer, but Duel manages to provide balance and depth to this endeavor. This beer is well-worth checking out...
