have not had much craft from wyoming, so this was a nice treat. i liked both prairie fire beers i tried at beer camp last night, but this may have been the less impressive of the two. a very frothy amber ale, called an imperial, but not quite strong enough to hit that mark i don't think for me. pale amber in color, clearish, coppery, with a foaming sudsy tan head. the nose is piney hops, very late kettle action here, and a slightly thin malt body with only a little bit of sweetness to it. the taste is true to the smell, with just that touch of sweetness running through it. hops are robust, and more than just in the finish. its big and sturdy in feel, foamy and expansive, and the hops ride that body for a long bitter piney finish. maybe some oats or something in the mash for all this body. a cool beer, certainly one of the better that I've had from wyoming. maybe a little under charged on the carbonation, but this beer had top travel a little ways to make it from the source to denver, so its excused this time. my favorite part about prairie fire is the guy who owns and brews the beers. a funny and engaging man, proud of his craft. rock on.

Outstanding beer. Had on tap at Sanford's in Spearfish SD.
Dark red with a nice 1 finger foamy head.
Smells great. Similar to many amber ales you would have.
Taste is awesome. More hops than a standard amber ale tons of flavor.
First beer I have had from Prairie Fire. Good brew. Glad I asked the server what it was. I would highly recommend this beer. Can't wait to try others from this brewery.
