a very good ipa here, big and sturdy, just tons and tons of late kettle hops and some dry hopping i assume, to get it this bright and aromatic, but also this huge in terms of hop complexion. maybe some centennial or simcoe in it, foresty woody intense bitter hops, but also some lighter citrus notes, especially in the aroma. malt base is big too, a little copper color and caramel gusto in there, barely balancing, but trying its best. the explanation i got from the gentleman who made it was that its all about the late kettle hops, and i have to agree with him, this is really different from the masses. bordering on amber in malt complexion, i don't mind it because its not sweet and doesnt distract me from my hops in it. long bitter finish almost makes me thirsty, the same weird ay ice cream makes me thirsty, it has some similar property for whatever reason. carbonation is nice, much better than the imperial red i had from them. one of the better india pale ales at a rather large beer festival. i enjoyed this one quite a bit and would love to visit the brewery at some point.
