Served on-tap at City Beverage (Food Truck Festival) in Winston-Salem, NC
A: Pours a hazy medium golden yellow in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some apricot + peach highlights. The beer has a three quarter finger tall foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a thick film covering the majority of the beer with a medium sized patch that is thinner in the center and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light aromas of pale malts with some barnyard funkiness and hay present as well. Hints of light fruit but no specific fruit was detectable.
T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of pale malts with some hints of toasted malts as well as some peppery yeast and hay. There is a subtle flavor towards the finish of kiwi fruit which is really quite a nice surprise (I cannot think of any other saisons that have kiwi flavors in them). Minimal amounts (if any) bitterness in the finish.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.
O: I thought this was a very unusual brew when I heard it described and I was slightly suspicious but it turns out to be quite a successful beer. I like the subtle hints of kiwi fruit in both the aroma and the flavor. Refreshing and easy to drink. Great summer beer.
