On draft at Dram and Draught Greensboro. This was great stuff. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense khaki head. Nice head retention and soapy lacing down the glass. Aromas and flavors of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, nuts, smoke, char, pine, wood, herbal, grass, pepper. Light dark fruit and citrus. Moderate pine, char, woody, peppery bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body. Creamy/ bready malts. Some sticky hops and chalky roast. Light-moderate increasing hop/char bitter drying with no acrid/astringency. Spot on American style porter. No complaints.

Standard look for a porter. Very dark, opaque brown with minimal carbonation and thus, not much in the way of head. Just a small brown cap. Smell is very nice. Malt and chocolate, sweet yet substantial. Taste picks up that combo and improves on it. It's rich, hearty, and leans to the dark side, as I like in my porters. Mouthfeel is nice and full. They are a bit too heavy on the roasty bitterness as the back end comes around, but overall, this is a fine beer. My best from Hoots so far.
