Vibrant black with a tall frothy mocha foam settling to a bubbly collar and thin film.

Nutty, roasty yet sweet at first, it transitions to savory shortly after. Popinski has a slight astringency to the start, but that fades into dark chocolate, wafer and malted milk balls in the middle. The medium-light body has a soft froth that develops a grounding smoky charred coffee bean towards the finish, which is barely sticky--another surprise on top of the minimal sweetness--swallowing semi-dry.

This is a very solid base, serving their many confectionery exploits well.

it's cold, and the warriors are playing one of the 5 teams that beat them this year so far. time for a big beefy imp stout

beautiful label, 750 into a perfect stout glass

looks great in the glass, the frothiest impy stout head i've ever seen. i could float a cap on it. dark mocha colored, like it was a nitro beer. beers itself is completely dark with a dark brown edges

nose is roast upfront and center with some sweetness in the backend. i know angry chair is on the sweet side, and im not a roast guy but this works well

taste follows the nose huge roast and huge sweetness, and they meet in the middle perfectly, pretty damn awesome. roast comes first and just when it's about to be too much the sweetness cuts it.

mouthfeel is thick and creamy, almost like this is a nitro stout, good carbonation. definitly on the hefty side but one of the creamiest ris i've had in a while

overall this is exactly what i wanted on a cold night, and it only wets my appetite of what this guy might be like out of the barrel.
thank you ravishing for the AC hook up!

Neither a sweet stout like Fudge Bucket nor a overly flavorful stout like German Chocolate Cupcake Stout nor a shocking stout like The Awakening, Popinski is a Russian Imperial Stout with character. Full bodied with lots of mouth feel. Smell is malty with hints of chocolate. Look is motor oil black. This is a fine beer from a terrific little brewery.

From 750ml bottle released 10/2016.
They empathize this is Not the BA version.

Had cellared bottle again in2017 looks even better the when fresh but has taken on a dark Chocolate taste and mouth feel. Still holds up and is very enjoyable.
