"4.25+. Tons of pecan on the nose. And a nutty finish. Get very very subtle cinnamon. Not much vanilla. But still excellent." -my Untappd, Nov 9, 2018

Syrupy tar black with a surprisingly tall mocha foam that quickly fizzles out to a fine chain.
I'm finding this to be more balanced and enjoyable than the more recent barrel aged version I had in March. The cinnamon is softer and milder here, leaving room for pecan and other nutty roasted notes, while the overall malty body is chocolatey, smooth and round, but thinned out a bit by a papery carbonation finishing sticky at first, then dry.
Aroma builds some "complexity," particularly as it warms, with blooming but deeply rich vanilla that is brownie batter and frosting, paired with a traditional roast. A very mild warmth comes on the swallow, with an additional roast coffee character coming out on the exhale.

Dark black body, slight cola brown hue, one finger offwhite head, short retention. Smell is milk chocolate, a bit of cocoa, fudge, a bit of astringent nuttiness, mild milk chocolate and lactose. Flavour follows, astringent nuttiness, a bit of lactose and vanilla, milk chocolate, a bit of cocoa fudge. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied, good carbonation, smooth with a mildly astringent nuttiness on the finish that I can't quite get over. Not my favorite beer from AC, but certainly solid.
