inky black pour that smells of chocolate, bourbon and some pepper spice. this beer looks and smells quite good. it tastes very good too, at first...then the peppers on the back end are so overpowering that the decision to take another sip becomes tough. it is just so much pepper burn on the way down the throat. and i like spice. feel is a little thinner than what i’ve become accustomed to from angry chair. overall, a little disappointing as i struggled to finish a slightly less than 5oz pour.

Pouring viscous tar black, this slowly builds a burnt mocha blanket that recedes to a curled, creamy ring that, with a tilt, sheets the glass with a fluid wall, but only for a moment, leaving some brown staining legs.
Smell is quite chocolatey at first with notes of peanut butter cookie and graham, but spicy stinging pepper rears up with an almost Huna-like character that actually becomes closer to Mexican Cake potency with a second whiff.
Fudgy chocolate and charred brownie crust precede the spicy pepper in this luscious and thick silky body. The pepper, while spicy, is also sweet, so it pairs well with the decadent ribbons of vanilla that roll out on the round swirls of carbonation. The barrel brings a bit of it's own heat as well as notes of date and dark oak, but it isn't huge. The finish is warming and sticky.

super sweet. gaggingly sweet. but killer pepper flavor! lots of thick chocolate. just enough cinnamon to accent the pepper (i dislike cinnamon in my beer) and a very nice smooth roundness (if you can get past the sweetness....)
