Poured a cola brown/black with minimal head and little lace. Notes of booze, char, cocoa, raisin, prune and hint of vanilla in aroma. Heavy body and slightly boozy but decent balance of cocoa, vanilla, caramel, figs, raisin, and possible prune make it easy to drink albeit very slowly and easy, sticky finish.

This one pours a dark golden brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like sweet sticky caramel, toffee, creme brulee, chocolate, and bourbon.
This is fairly straightforward as barrel aged barleywines go, and not as sweet as you'd expect either American Solera or Angry Chair to be. It's actually balanced, with a wonderfully silky malt character running through the whole thing. There's a burnt caramel, creme brulee, fancy dessert sort of feel through this, with a touch of chocolate, some oak spice, and lots of bourbon.
There's very little overt booziness on this, though, with a nice creamy, silky, and velvety body to it.
I like the barleywines from both Angry Chair and American Solera better than their more vaunted and hyped stouts.
