Fionn is our hazelnut coffee imperial porter. The name comes from a pretty rad story in Irish mythology. It’s a long story that includes a salmon, precisely 9 hazelnuts, a dude named Finn and an even cooler dude named Fionn. We couldn’t think of anything cooler than aging this beer in rum and bourbon barrels for 19 months and then adding toasted hazelnuts, hazelnut coffee and coconut.

750ml capped bottle into a Founders snifter. Shared with schen9303.
Pours rather flat. Pitch black and semi-viscous. Thin legs, no head. Nose is outrageous. Huge Nutella, molasses, and espresso notes. Toasted coconut is apparent in the back and lends a nice sweetness and brine. Very aromatic. Beer opens Nutella, chocolate, and espresso. Syrup in the middle with sweet cream and toasted coconut in the back. Barrel is apparent towards the end. Boozy, messy finish that's roasty and syrupy at the finish. Body is medium to full with low carbonation. Smooth and chewy on the palate and boozy and messy going down. There's some bubbles there but this really straddles the line between stout and porter.
My first experience with Angry Chair doesn't disappoint. This one's pretty notable.

poured from a 750mL bottle into a TG MD snifter. pours a cola brown but gathers in the glass a darker brown to near black with a thin dark brown head that fizzles away in seconds. it does leave a tan ring around the edge of the glass. heavy hazelnut on the nose with coffee, chocolate, vanilla and barrel as an afterthought. i’m digging the hazelnut and the barrel comes through a lot more in the taste than on the nose. taste-wise i get flavors hazelnut, chocolate, rum and oak. one thing i haven’t picked up on much at all is the coconut. this beer isn’t nearly as sweet as i thought it was going to be. it’s heavy hazelnut but i enjoy that and the barrel cuts it perfectly. as this nears room temp the barrel(s) really start to shine. a bit more prominent on the nose and there in full force in the taste, especially the finish. it has a medium-full mouthfeel with an appropriate amount if carbonation. quite rich and filling but quite flavorful. beautiful sipper that gets a little more intense as it warms up. never gets overwhelming or offensive though. new age pastry meets classic imperial. i quite enjoyed it.
