This 11% ABV imperial sweet stout was aged in Basil Hayden bourbon, Jamaican rum and VSOP brandy barrels for 18 months before resting on Haitian cacao nibs, hand toasted walnuts, Indian vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon.

This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells overly fruity – like I don’t know if this on the dusty dirt road to the infection, or just like the cognac barrel just absolutely overwhelmed everything here. There’s also far too much cinnamon.
Angry Chair is somewhere in the middle of the road for me, brewery-wise – some beers I’ve had have been truly great, and some of them have been truly disappointing. This leans heartily into the latter camp. It might be pre-infection, or it just might be bad. The three barrels are overkill here, there’s no real bourbon or rum, just super, super fruity cognac – like weird strawberry candy and cough syrup, almost? There’s no balance or nuance to the base stout, just weird fruity barrel and way too much cinnamon. The cinnamon overwhelms any other added flavoring. The walnuts would have been a nice touch, but they are invisible to this palate.
This is syrupy and way too thick, and just not drinkable at all.
This is a gigantic mess. There’s not much of anything to support or recommend here.
