In Spanish, Lago means Lake and Cerveza means, well, Cerveza. Lago – a Mexican style lager – is refreshing and light with that little extra cha-cha-cha you’d expect from a craft beer. Inspired by times spent perched at the beach pool bar under the hot sun with a bucket of cold ones, Lago is perfect for sharing with the senioritas and bro-chachos over a plate of tacos. Best served with sun and tortillas.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a nonic pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. My second beer from the Kenora, Ontario brewery, and for 2025...

Doesn't really pour any foam. Light straw color. Smells floral and even citrousy.
They add lime zest to the beer.
This beer will be perfect for nachos. The taste literally reminds me of those Lime flavored Tortilla chips in a way.
Definitely corn chip flavor from the beer. I can tell they don't skimp out on the corn.
Mexican style all the way. If Mexican beer is your thing don't pass on this beer.
I prefer European beers myself, but this is a nice change.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 28 2024 and served slightly chilled. Reviewed from notes taken last summer; the brewery's website mentions both Magnum and Motueka hops, the latter adding a hint of lime (in lieu of actual citrus or added flavourings).
Pours a clear pale yellow colour, equipped with an inch of soapy, foamy white head that is worn away within three minutes or so. A frothy collar and thin cap remain on the surface, with a quarter-inch coat of uneven lace adhering to the glass - looks good to me. The aroma is light, yet clean and enticing: I'm getting grain husk, yellow tortilla, lime zest and a hint of floral, vaguely minty hops.
Decent flavours, above average for the style: I'm getting grainy malts, as well some corn flake sweetness by mid-sip. Faint hints of lemon & lime zest throughout, culminating with a corny, weakly citrusy finish with shades of grassiness fading into an off-dry aftertaste. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that adds some spritz to its smooth, relatively thin mouthfeel. Refreshing and effortlessly easy to toss back.
Final Grade: 3.76, a hard-earned B+. Lago Cerveza had me going early on - it looks good in the glass, and I thought the nose was well above average for a light lager. Unfortunately, the flavour was nothing to write home about - still, I do think it's reasonably well-made, considering what it is, i.e. an inoffensive, not especially imaginative lager. That being said, the Motueka hops are a welcome addition. This would work just fine on a beach, or while doing yard work, or washing down some Mexican grub, etc., but there are so many other lagers that could slide seamlessly into that same role.

I am trying a tall boy can of this beer at The Red Lake Golf and Country Club just outside of Balmertown, Ontario. It poured a clear golden with fizzy white head that dissipated and did not leave any lace. The scent had grain with a hint of lime notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with bright crisp malt base with grain and subtle salt and lime presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.
