Dark brown color but light passes through the center of the glass. Light head and only minute spots on the glass.
Nice unsweetened cocoa aroma. No coffee but there's a good burnt wood smell from the black patent malt.
Watery like the Irish versions but it is lacking the nitro creaminess (low carbonation). The flavor is much like the smell: burnt toast and dark cocoa. Lingering aftertaste of bitter Baker's chocolate.

Had on tap. Pours opaque, black in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is big coffee, roasted malt, and vanilla. Medium bodied, low carbonation, sweet, and roasty. Above average and solid American stout. I would get this one again.
