A rare beauty that will steal your heart. A heavy hand with Simcoe, Cascade, and Columbus hops bring out robust tropical fruit notes while a higher finishing gravity lends a caramelly biscuit malt sweetness before a dry bitterness takes over.

I really like this DIPA from Diebolt (and it isn't discontinued either, unless the store I've been getting it from for the past year has massive backstock). It pours really dark for a pale ale, and has a peachy, caramel-candy like nose. There is a vegetal aspect to it but you know it is going to be more sweet-malt forward from the nose. And it is. Very un-bitter and malty but does have semi-dry finish. Carbonation is satisfying, medium to low. Very good.

Poured from a 12oz can into a shaped pint glass.
Clear Syracuse orange liquid beneath a fat rocky ivory cap; thick sticky lacing; very good retention.
Slightly sweet nose, hints of caramel and C-hops - rather weak aroma overall.
Sticky, malty, and moderately bitter - faintly herbal (scallions?) and earthy finish. Biscuity/toasty notes are pleasant, although this tastes more like an ESB malt bill with an American yeast thanks to the high FG. Some low medicinal notes appear as the beer warms.
Well carbonated, some heft from the alcohol, which is otherwise well disguised.
Not a bad tasting beer, but not exactly to style.

an awesome big pale ale, twice as good as the base pale. this has a cool hop profile thats fruity without being sweet. some pear and apricot in the nose from the hops i think, i wish i knew the varietal, because its unique and delicious here. there is enough bitterness in here too to balance it out. orange and hazy in color with a tall white head that lasts, it looks great in a globe. pungent hop aroma is different, almost new zealand, a touch buttery in here too, but i dont see it as a flaw, i think there is a slickness in feel to this that is flattering to the hops used, and the grain body is only medium, which for the strength and intensity of this beer is pretty neat. double pale ale is not a style i usually gravitate towards, but this is one of the better ones i have had. i think the french ale or the ipa are still the picks at diebolt, both amazing, but this one is pretty darn good if you are looking for something a little stronger.
