they have brewed this one again, and i think its over 10% abv. i was lucky enough to get to have a glass of this before the south denver beer festival, and man, its pretty intense and got me buzzing right away. its a huge imperial red, a vast departure from the sweet caramel malts of the amber ale, and introducing an insanely woody and piney hop profile, this is more a spin off of a huge ipa than a red beer to me, although its brick red in color and certainly looks the part. pine and wood, i think centennial hops have to be involved, although ive been wrong before. a ton of body but no sugar, uncommon in a red beer. nuts and biscuits rather than caramel and toffee, really yummy. the hops are insane, its super bitter and resinous too, and the booze does show itself just a bit. this is really intensely flavored beer, not for the faint of heart, and perhaps not a great morning drink at this abv, but man, it tastes great and is just the latest illustration of how dynamic and capable the odd13 crew is.
