Another weird but delicious beer from these guys, finally found one. The price is brutal but you get what you pay for. Sour brown in cognac and Pinot noir barrels, and while the base brown for me needed body for structure and substance, I believe it to be an excellent vehicle for this barrel blend. The wine is acidic in here along with the cultures, and I taste much more of that than I do the mellow reserved cognac, which presents itself much more prominently in the finish. Fruit and sour up front, lacto and Brett in tandem, lots of wood. I want more body, it's awesomely carbonated but really thin, especially for all the layers of flavor. More meat would let me enjoy it slower, in waves, and help it linger. That said, this beer proves these guys are at a crooked stave or jolly pumpkin caliber by now, and their beer really deserves some national attention. I'd like a touch more cognac too, but that's personal taste. More and more tart and funky as it warms, never losing airy feel. Beautiful brew, don't let the price scare you away

Red wine edgyness and cognac smooth finish imposed characteristics on a decent sour.
