a really nice beer, a bit unexpected, ordered it next to a brett beer for my buddy, and one was hazy and one was crystal clear, it took me a second to believe it was the lager that was so hazy, this looks almost milky in the glass, a bit unrefined maybe, but i prefer a keller type, like them a little more raw, and this one certainly is rustic. brewed with jasmine rice and six row apparently, its got a ton of body and character from the grain, even starchy and protein rich to me, but its also dry and crisp, even if it is relatively substantial for its low abv. i get a little floral thing from the jasmine rice which is nice, and a cool earthy hoppiness i wasnt expecting that comes on late, not real bitter or anything, but decidedly hoppy, maybe saaz or something else noble at work here, a nice touch. i also think i taste mexican lager yeast, which sometimes has soft minerals and a lime note in my experience, im not sure they use it, but thats the vibe i get on the fermentation profile. overall i found this refreshing even though its not at bright as a typical rice lager, i think it has a lot more character than most, and i appreciate that. i was impressed with the lagers i had in here, i didnt really know that was in their wheelhouse too, but it most certainly is. this is a cool beer!
