Looks can be deceiving. Pitch black color tells the brain one thing, while the nose and tongue yell something different. An ungodly amount of our favorite American hops fall into an abyss of dark maltiness with an unusually light roast character for its color.

Poured from 12 oz can dated 11/17/2016.

A: Deep black with two finger creamy light tan head. Nice retention and leaving some chunky lacing.

S: Roasted malts and fresh pine cones combined with some faint citrus.

T: Citrus and piney hops mixed with rich roasted malts. Subtle chocolate notes.

M: Medium body with average carbonation. Finish is lightly bitter.

O: Nicely executed black IPA. Very well done.

12 oz can. Pours near black, thick tan head with good retention and lots of lacing. Toasty aroma with obvious Hop presence. Roasty chocolate taste with mild burnt notes, great piney hop bitterness lasts. Feel is thin to medium, oily. Really solid black ale by SPB.

So glad SoPro brought this back. Pours black with a thick tan head. Strong piney hops on the nose. Dark roasted hops with a perfect blend of bitter and sweet. Medium bodied beer that should be allowed to warm a touch for best enjoyment. This is very drinkable but it will sneak up on you.
