This massively malted character balanced by floral and earthy hops is best enjoyed sip by sip.

Poured from a tap into a snifter at Loda in Mobile, AL. Minimal head and lacing. Smelled of leather and stone fruit. Taste was hoppier than I would have expected for a BW. Initially, it was probably too cold for a Barleywine. As it warmed, it was only then that I was able to smell anything. The feel was also much thinner than anticipated. It didn't really linger.

Bomber. Pours hazy amber, thin off white head. Sweet delicious caramel aroma, raisins. Taste full of caramel malt with a firm hop bitterness on the back end. Alcohol is very well hidden. Medium mouthfeel. Really tasty Barleywine by SPB.

Barley Legal was an October 2015 market-wide limited release in 22-oz. bombers. Had on Oct. 13, 2015, at The Manship, Jackson, Grapes vs. Grains dinner poured from 22-oz. bomber into Teku tulip.

Pours deep, cloudy amber-brown, with a minimal light-tan head, leaving almost no lace. Nice malty aroma up front and continuing throughout. Begins with a smooth texture, delivering huge caramel malt, which carries through a bit of fruit into the slightly-drying, somewhat-warming alcohol-evident finish.

This is the non-barrel-aged, improved version of the original release of Barley Legal Barrel Aged, which was released only barrel-aged. Unlike that beer, which was illegal in Mississippi at 11.40 ABV, this is actually "barley" legal, at a point or two (the ABV is listed at 9.20 on SoPro's webpage but 8.40 on the bomber label) under the current 10.20 Mississippi limit.
