Betty was released in Nov. 2018 in pint cans and on draft, and has usually been a fall release each year since. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped “BETTY” and (apparently) canned on “110918," into nonic 1/2-pint, and have had for most releases since.
Pours heavily opaque lemon-gold with 1- to 2-finger fizzing near-white head, with very good retention, but leaving only specks of lace. Aromas of cream, then lemon, together almost overwhelming lemon meringue, getting sharper as warms. On tasting, begins with sharp lemon, quickly topped by sweet, sticky pie meringue, finishing with a sharp lemon bite.
Lemon meringue pie in a glass, Betty is definitely a novelty beer, but with the sharp lemon finish is also very drinkable.
