Oranges Are Orange was a market-wide limited release on draft and in pint can 4-pks. in November 2019. First had at Fondren Public, Jackson, Mississippi, on draft into tumbler, and had after poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on “11/19/19,” into nonic pint.
A hazy, juicy fruited IPA, with tangerine sweetness and lactose creaminess tempered by wheat spiciness, orange zest and hop bite in finish.

"Double Dry Hopped IPA." Can cost me a bit over $5 (for 16 fl oz) in New Orleans, LA.
7% ABV. "Fruited ale brewed with lactose, oranges & hakau, kohatu & Mandarina Bavaria hops."
Hazy dull orange body. Thin white head. ~6 minute head retention.
Aroma yields murky tropical fruit. Mango, rind, tangerine, orange...it's heavy on acidic citrus but doesn't seem too pulpy. Also doesn't seem horribly fresh (especially for a can that's barely 2 weeks old). But the orange presence is lovely. Certainly generally appealing. I wouldn't find the lactose if I came at this in a blind tasting.
Taste isn't as orange-focused as I'd expected given the beer's name, but I guess its hop varietals aren't really orange-specific to be fair. The actual oranges used take a backseat to the tropical fruit from the hops, which keep the citrus vibe going, bringing mango and tangerine to the table to join the oranges. A bit pulpy but still refreshingly acidic. Tastes rather nice for a citrus-forward IPA, though I don't know that the lactose sweetness is really welcome or necessary...pale malt alone would have sufficed to keep this in balance.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied. The soft yet acidic mouthfeel elevates the orange flavour at the heart of the beer, helping deliver on the beer's premise.
Highly drinkable and enjoyable for an IPA, but I'd love to see them ditch the lactose, brighten the appearance, commit more to the hop flavours (this is a bit shallow hopwise and lacks enough hop pungency in my opinion), and play with more aggressive or unique oranges.
Another solid one from SoPro, but it's certainly not worthy of a $5 per 16 fl oz can pricetag...I definitely wouldn't buy it again for that reason alone but would happily pick it up if offered at $10-$12 a sixer.
