A SoPro Taproom-only release on Black Friday, November 29, 2019, on draft and in 22-oz. bombers, have had Rye for an Eye Side Car at the Taproom on draft into tulip, and after 6 months poured from 22-oz. bomber into snifter.

Rye for an Eye Side Car does not look like the namesake cocktail, as it pours murky golden-brown with a 1/2-finger light-tan head, soon gone. Aroma is closer to the mark, as it is boozy and fruity from the ABV, Grand Marnier barrel-aging and added orange and lemon zest and orange marmalade, but it is still recognizably rye barleywine in its spicy rye and caramel malt aromas. On drinking, we get a boozy big beer that honors the Sidecar cocktail, but with rye spice and a depth of malty flavor.
