Cake Walk Hummingbird Cake was a SoPro Taproom-only release in April 2020 at SoPro Curbside in 16.9-oz. bottles, and then on draft with the mid-May limited reopening of the Taproom. Had poured from 16.9-oz. bottle into snifter.
Unfortunately, never having had the cake I can't compare this beer to actual Hummingbird Cake. It pours absolutely black with a beautiful dark tan but ultimately ineffective head. Fruity, spicy and malty aroma, with a hint of banana later. On drinking, the primary takeaway is of a rich malty stout, with some fruit and spice, and then alcohol bite over a grainy even cake-like finish, adding a little banana as it warms, and a bit of vanilla, and finally kind of bananas fostering you as the 10.10 piles up.
