Apple Brandy Barrel Aged Barley Wine with Apple Pie Spices
We created a rich, malty, English-style barley wine and laid it down in freshly dumped apple brandy oak barrels for well over a year. This aged ale was then conditioned on apple pie spices, resulting in an incredible liquid concoction with notes of caramel apples, cinnamon raisin rye bread, and maple toffee candy.

Shine is a May 2020 SoPro Taproom-only release on draft and in 16.9-oz. waxed bottles. Had at the taproom on draft into snifter, and most recently poured from 16.9-oz. waxed bottle into snifter.
This is an ugly beer, deep murky brown (it does have a decent light tan head), but do not let that stop you from taking the next step. As an "Apple Brandy Barrel-Aged Barley Wine," the aroma is beautiful: apples, spices, brandy and rich malt. All of those flavors are also experienced on drinking Shine, plus the mouthfeel moves from opening carbonation kick, to smooth malt, then a graininess reminiscent of pie crust, and finally a slow-appearing but ever-growing barleywine alcohol burn.
