Part of the Weathered Souls collaborative initiative to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily, SoPro's version of Black Is Beautiful was a SoPro taproom-only release in July 2020 on draft and in pint can 4-pks. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on "07/24/20," into tulip.
This beer pours absolutely black, with a short-lived dark-tan head, leaving little lace, but surprisingly the aroma is not so much roasted malts as toasted, which is fitting for a "pastry stout." Joining are aromas of sweet marshmallow, and caramel and graham cracker. On drinking, all of those flavors present, as well as sweet chocolate and a little hop bite to keep it crispy.
