Cake Walk Chocolate Turtle Cake was a SoPro Taproom-only release in December 2020 on draft and in 16.9-oz. bottles. Had in Feb. 2021 poured from 16.9-oz. bottle into snifter.
Pours absolutely black, with 1/2-finger dark tan head, which dissipates to a persistent ring, and leaves only a few specks of lace. Aroma of chocolate, caramel and roasted (wal)nuts up front, soon joined by dark fruits, with chocolate and roasted walnuts lingering until alcohol warms it up. Begins with a little carbonation, then dark fruits, caramel follows leading into the chocolate, then the roasted walnuts make a grand entrance, all over the Cake Walk grainy cake vibe, carrying back into the chocolate and a biting hop- and (later) moderate alcohol-driven finish.
So far my favorite Cake Walk.
