Fruited with guava and grapefruit then conditioned on coconut. Kissed with a pinch of lactose for a slight creaminess to balance out some tartness.
Tastes like rediscovering your youthful years and spending that nest egg on a fixer upper boat. Push play on the yacht rock playlist and just vibe.

Empty Nesters was released in early May 2022 at the SoPro Taproom and then for distribution on draft and in pint 4-pks., and had a similar re-release in Aug. 2024. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on "05/02/22," into Rastal Harmony oversized red wine glass.
Pours cloudy light but bright gold with a little (fruit?) sediment and 1- to 2-finger near-white head, which quickly dissipates to a persistent ring, and leaves practically no lace. Aroma of fruit peel off pour, then huge fruit aromas of tart citrus and sweet strawberry, with coconut aroma becoming evident and strawberry aroma growing as warms. On tasting, a smooth and creamy coconut body soon gives way to effervescent sweet citrus and a bitter herbal bite, then it's all strawberry and sweet citrus fruit juice, before mild tartness and a cracker malt base lead into a crisp, herbally biting but still sweetish, fruity finish.
An ABV upgrade to SoPro's Mother's Day beer, Mother Boy, but Empty Nesters is still (intentionally) more of a refreshingly crisp fruit punch than a modern fruited sour.
