Kuro was a SoPro Taproom-only, draft-only release in Oct. 2022. Had at the Taproom on draft into a type of pokal.
Pours apparently black but actually beautiful deep amber with apparent clarity and 1-finger off-white head, with good retention, leaving Belgian lace etched down the glass. Floral and nutty aromas up front, joined by some sharp (stone?) fruits. Begins smooth then organically bitter, relieved (temporarily) by sweet nuttiness, over a wonderfully creamy body, delivering some fruit before that organic bitterness returns for a crisp, nutty finish.
Never had anything like this. The closest in style may have been a Mexican craft Vienna lager in Cabo, or an old-style Schwarzbier with dark malts roasted to bitterness. Except there are no roast malts in this beer, and no Vienna lager has ever been as intrinsically bitter as this beer.
