This copper hued lager was made with a blend of Pilsner and Vienna malt, a helping of German Saphir hops, and a cold fermentation with an extended lagering time. Wonderful malt driven notes of toast and honey with a crisp and clean finish.

The Sun Is Yum was released in Jan. 2023 at the SoPro Taproom on draft and in pint 4-pks. Had at the taproom on side pull, slow pour draft into 18-oz. rounded seidel, and also poured from pint can, bottom stamped "canned by DARBY" on (apparently) "01/13/2023," into pilsner glass.
Pours a beautiful, deep, almost-copper gold with clarity and 1-finger off-white head, with good retention, leaving scattered lace etched down the glass. Aromas of hop spice, mild caramel malt and tart stone fruit off pour, which continue, joined by tea, floral (honey) and lime aromas as warms. Begins crisply-carbonated yet malty, with an underlying, somewhat citrusy fruitiness, over a smooth, mouth-filling, caramel malt body, which carries into a crisp, fruity, sweet berry finish.
Beautiful and aromatic off the pour, and immediately flavorful, you will want to guzzle this classic Vienna lager. Don't. Savor. As you let it warm a bit, the aromas and flavors open up even more.
