Drip Check was released in Dec. 2022 at the SoPro Taproom and for limited distribution on draft and in pint can 4-pks., and had similar re-releases in Oct.-Nov. 2023 and Aug.-Sept. 2024. Had poured from pint can, bottom stamped (apparently) canned on "12/01/22" and "canned by DARBY," into nonic pint.
Pours black transmitting gold light at the edges with a 1-finger-plus, fizzing but creamy, light-tan head, and excellent retention, pulling a little splotchy lace down the glass. Sweet maple and mild roast malt aromas off pour, then mild chocolate and caramel, which continue into mild cinnamon and maple aromas as warms. On tasting, minimal carbonation and big sweet maple and mild chocolate to start, then a big dose of cinnamon, with the maple, chocolate and cinnamon carrying into a solid, biscuity malt base, as the maple sweetness grows, for a moderately sweet, but not overly sticky, chocolate cookie finish.
The base stout although not built on heavily roasted malts is substantial enough not to be overwhelmed by the maple and cinnamon, resulting in a balanced cookie stout rather than a sweet dessert stout.
